Secom Engineering awarded Level 1 AIP for hydrogen storage system below deck
Published on July 22, 2025

Secom Engineering, an engineering firm of the FÉTIS Group, has been granted a Level 1 Approval in Principle (AIP) by Bureau Veritas for the integration of a below-deck hydrogen storage system in a maritime context.
This technical validation marks a significant milestone in a project led over nearly two years by Secom Engineering’s teams. It confirms their advanced expertise in the integration of onboard hydrogen technologies within a particularly stringent regulatory framework. The system has been assessed under SOLAS-class passenger vessel regulations, among the strictest in the maritime sector.
The AIP covers a adaptable architecture, designed to fit multiple vessel types rather than a single application. This adaptability offers strategic value in a rapidly evolving maritime decarbonization landscape.
This success reflects the dedication of Secom Engineering’s teams and strengthens the FÉTIS Group’s ability to support its clients in developing low-carbon, high-performance maritime systems.
