FÉTIS Group took part in BrittanHy Day in Lorient: live maritime hydrogen bunkering

On September 24 and 25, 2025, FÉTIS Group took part in BrittanHy Day in Lorient, organized by Bretagne Hydrogène Renouvelable, to spotlight concrete progress in maritime hydrogen. Acting as a system integrator, the Group helped demonstrate how hydrogen refuelling can move from pilot to operations thanks to a mobile hydrogen station and the rigorous orchestration of interfaces, procedures and safety.

On September 24, the Hydrogen Support Vessel (HSV) developed by K-Challenge Racing & Lab was refuelled with hydrogen at 350 bar from a mobile station during a public sequence. The operation, conducted with SECO MARINE and Kinell (formerly SECOM ENGINEERING), two FÉTIS Group companies in charge of system integration, validated simultaneous dual-side refuelling and confirmed the safety, efficiency and operational readiness of hydrogen bunkering for maritime use. On board, the architecture combines two EODev REXH2 fuel cells rated at 80 kW each, supplied by 32 kg of hydrogen stored at 350 bar across four type-IV tanks a configuration designed for short turnaround times and smooth port-side integration.

David Bartoletti, General Manager of SECO MARINE, spoke in roundtables to underline the decisive role of refuelling infrastructure in the transition: ship-to-station connections, safety procedures, interoperability and scaling up. The 2025 edition of BrittanHy Day showcased a resilient French ecosystem in which technology developers, system integrators and operators are progressing together toward large-scale deployment of hydrogen at sea. Presented as a first in Brittany, the hydrogen bunkering demonstration in Lorient marks a decisive step toward regular, reproducible operations in ports.
